MARA Chief Orders Immediate Aid For Struggling Students, Says No Need To Wait For Complaints

Date:

Students facing financial hardship at institutions under Majlis Amanah Rakyat (MARA) should receive immediate assistance, with no delays or unnecessary bureaucracy. MARA Chairman Datuk Dr Asyraf Wajdi Dusuki has instructed the leadership of all MARA-linked higher education institutions to step in as soon as they identify students in need.

He stressed that university and college management should not wait for struggling students to bring their concerns directly to him before taking action. Instead, they are expected to respond proactively and ensure welfare support reaches those who need it most.

According to Asyraf Wajdi, the directive applies to all institutions under MARA, including Universiti Poly-Tech Malaysia (UPTM), Universiti Kuala Lumpur (UniKL), Kolej Poly-Tech MARA (KPTM), German-Malaysia Institute (GMI), as well as other educational institutions within the MARA network.

In a post shared on social media on Tuesday, the MARA Chairman made it clear that helping underprivileged students is a shared responsibility. He urged the management teams to act swiftly whenever they come across students from low-income or disadvantaged backgrounds, without waiting for further instructions.

Asyraf Wajdi, who also serves as UMNO Secretary-General, is widely recognised for actively engaging with the public through his social media platforms. He regularly responds to concerns and complaints raised by Malaysians, particularly those involving student welfare.

Among the issues most frequently highlighted by his followers are cases of bullying and matters related to the management of educational institutions under MARA. His latest directive reinforces the organisation’s commitment to ensuring students receive timely support and that welfare concerns are addressed before they escalate.
