Malaysians may face temporary disruptions to MyKad printing services nationwide as the National Registration Department (JPN) transitions from the existing card structure to the new-generation MyKad.
JPN said the temporary disruption is expected to take place from today until September 7 as preparations are made for the introduction of the new MyKad structure.
Members of the public who do not have an urgent need to replace or renew their MyKad have been advised to postpone their applications during the transition period.
Parents and guardians applying for a first MyKad for children turning 12 are also encouraged to wait for a while, as the department expects the new-generation MyKad to begin being issued in the near future.
The temporary interruption is part of JPN’s transition process as it prepares to introduce the upgraded identity card structure nationwide. The department said the move is being carried out to ensure the new MyKad can be introduced smoothly.
JPN also expressed its appreciation for the public’s patience and cooperation throughout the transition, while apologising for any inconvenience caused by the temporary disruption.
Further updates on the new-generation MyKad, including information on its implementation and issuance, will be announced through JPN’s official channels from time to time.
