The death toll from the devastating mudslides in Nepal has risen to 781, with 2,502 people still reported missing as rescue and recovery efforts continue across the affected areas.
According to Nepal’s National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Authority, the bodies were recovered from mudslide-hit locations as of 6pm local time on Sunday, Xinhua reported.
The scale of the disaster has also raised concern among foreign visitors, with the Nepal Tourism Board reporting that 591 foreign nationals remained uncontactable as of the same time.
In a statement, the board said 289 foreign nationals had so far been rescued from the affected areas, while another five had successfully made contact.
Those who have since been reached include three Spanish nationals, one American and one Belgian national.
Authorities continue to work through the affected areas as efforts remain focused on locating those still missing and providing assistance to survivors.
