UMNO ADUNs in Negeri Sembilan have withdrawn their support for the state government led by Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Aminuddin Harun, a move described as an early step towards rejecting Pakatan Harapan (PH).
PAS Information Chief Ahmad Fadhli Shaari shared his view on Facebook, congratulating UMNO Negeri Sembilan for what he described as a “move to unite in rejecting PH”.
The development came after all 14 Barisan Nasional (BN) state assemblymen unanimously announced they had lost confidence in Aminuddin’s leadership, citing issues linked to a crisis involving state adat institutions and constitutional matters.
BN Negeri Sembilan chairman Datuk Seri Jalaluddin Alias said the decision stemmed from ongoing tensions related to traditional authority structures within the state. The situation has drawn attention following disputes involving key adat institutions and royal-linked matters.
Earlier developments included controversy surrounding the Undang Yang Empat and actions involving Negeri Sembilan’s royal institution, which added to political and administrative strain in the state.
The Menteri Besar had previously stated that the Dewan Keadilan and Undang Negeri Sembilan advised Luak Sungai Ujong on matters involving the dismissal of a traditional officeholder, further intensifying the dispute.
Following the crisis, the Negeri Sembilan State Legislative Assembly sitting, which had been scheduled for four days, was postponed to a later date despite its official opening by the Yang di-Pertuan Besar Tuanku Muhriz Tuanku Munawir.
In the 2023 state election, PH won 17 seats, BN secured 14, while PAS and Bersatu held three and two seats respectively. BN and PH later formed the state government with a combined majority.
