PAS Open To Bersatu’s Choice On Staying Or Leaving PN

Date:

PAS has left it entirely to Bersatu to decide whether it wants to remain in or exit Perikatan Nasional (PN), according to party vice-president Datuk Seri Ahmad Samsuri Mokhtar.

He said the issue surrounding Bersatu’s position within the coalition is expected to be among the key matters discussed at the PN supreme council meeting scheduled for tomorrow night.

Samsuri noted that, for now, PN’s composition remains unchanged, involving PAS, Bersatu, the Malaysian Indian People’s Party (MIPP) and Gerakan.

He added that any matter involving membership or the position of any party within the coalition must go through proper consultation and collective decision-making at leadership level.

Samsuri also stressed that no structural changes have been made to PN so far, with all component parties continuing their respective roles in strengthening the coalition.

He was speaking to reporters after attending the PAS Kuala Krau Annual General Meeting at Kompleks Al-Makmur in Kerdau.

The issue of Bersatu’s position in PN has recently gained attention amid growing speculation over the party’s political direction and internal challenges.

Earlier, PAS president Tan Sri Abdul Hadi Awang had stated that relations with Bersatu had effectively ended, leaving it to the party to decide whether to remain in PN.

However, Bersatu president Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin later confirmed that the party had decided to stay in PN and would contest upcoming state elections under the coalition’s logo.

The upcoming PN supreme council meeting is expected to focus on strategic matters, including organisational strengthening and election preparations.
