PAS Says It Will Wait And See DAP’s Unity Government Decision

Date:

PAS is taking a wait-and-see approach towards DAP’s decision on whether to remain in or withdraw from the Unity Government on August 16.

PAS secretary-general Datuk Seri Takiyuddin Hassan confirmed that the party had not received any approach or offer to join the Unity Government.

“For August 16, we will wait and see. We have also not received any approach or offer to join the government. I can confirm that there has been none so far,” he said.

Takiyuddin was speaking to reporters after chairing the main committee meeting for the 72nd PAS Kelantan Annual Muktamar at the Kelantan Islamic Education Centre (PUTIK) on Sunday night.

His remarks came after DAP secretary-general Anthony Loke reportedly said that the party would decide its position in the Unity Government during its National Conference on August 16.

Loke said a motion concerning the party’s position would be presented to delegates before being decided by nearly 4,000 eligible representatives attending the conference.

He also said the meeting would determine DAP’s future direction in Malaysian politics.
