PKR is expected to contest at least 20 seats in the upcoming Johor state election and 16 seats in the Negri Sembilan polls, according to party secretary-general Datuk Dr Fuziah Salleh.
Fuziah, who is also Deputy Domestic Trade and Cost of Living Minister, said the seat allocations for both state elections have already been finalised.
She said PKR will contest a minimum of 20 seats in Johor and 16 seats in Negri Sembilan.
“I understand that PKR will contest 16 seats in Negri Sembilan and a minimum of 20 seats in Johor,” she told a press conference after attending the Rahmah Madani Sales programme held in conjunction with the opening of a new Pantai Selamat supermarket branch.
Pakatan Harapan had earlier announced that it will contest all 56 seats in the Johor State Legislative Assembly, with DAP confirming it will contest 17 constituencies.
For Negri Sembilan, reports indicate that Pakatan will contest all 36 seats, with PKR allocated 16, DAP 11 and Amanah nine.
The Johor and Negri Sembilan state elections are scheduled for July 11 and Aug 1 respectively.
Fuziah said a high voter turnout in Johor could benefit Pakatan Harapan.
On the emergence of new political parties, she urged all parties to focus on policy-based campaigning rather than criticism of opponents, saying this reflects a healthy democratic process.
She also said she will propose to the Finance Ministry an increase in the fuel quota under the BUDI95 programme for media practitioners.
On the Rahmah Madani Sales programme, she said 13,692 initiatives had been implemented nationwide from January to June 14, including 974 in Pahang.
