Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim has declared that the era of “plundering public wealth” and using political power to enrich family members and cronies is over, reaffirming the MADANI Government’s commitment to clean and corruption-free leadership.
Speaking during the Johor Ke Depan, Undi Harapan campaign programme in Serom, Johor, Anwar said his administration’s top priority is to rid the country’s governance system of deeply rooted corruption and ensure that Malaysia’s wealth is fully utilised for the benefit of the people.
The Prime Minister stressed that leaders should be judged based on integrity, honesty and good governance, rather than race or political rhetoric designed to distract from past abuses of power.
“I want Malay leaders who are honest and not corrupt. I also want Chinese leaders who are honest and not corrupt. Integrity is what matters,” he told supporters at the event held in Sungai Mati.
Also present were Penang Chief Minister Chow Kon Yeow and Ledang MP Syed Ibrahim Syed Noh.
Anwar, who is also Pakatan Harapan (PH) chairman, said the practice of using government positions to award contracts to family members and political allies must end if Malaysia is to progress and earn greater international respect.
“The old culture of enriching your children, your spouse and your cronies through government contracts must stop. The government has a responsibility to put an end to that behaviour,” he said.
He also claimed that ongoing political attacks against his administration were driven by individuals seeking to regain power for personal interests rather than to serve the people.
The Prime Minister assured Malaysians that no individual involved in corruption would receive protection under his leadership, regardless of their status or position.
He urged Johor voters to reject leaders lacking integrity in the upcoming Johor state election, saying the decision would shape the country’s future and safeguard the interests of the next generation.
The event in Sungai Mati marked Anwar’s eighth programme of the day as part of his Johor election campaign, completing 15 campaign stops over two days ahead of polling on 11 July, with early voting scheduled for 7 July.
