Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim has said that the issue surrounding Sabah’s 40 per cent revenue entitlement is expected to be clarified tomorrow.
He said the matter would be explained during his visit to Sabah, following questions raised on the Special Grant rate for the state.
“The 40 per cent Sabah rights issue will be explained tomorrow in Sabah,” he said after performing prayers at the Saidina Hamzah Mosque in Batu today.
General political observers note that the long-standing debate over Sabah’s constitutional entitlement continues to be a sensitive issue between the federal government and state leaders.
His remarks came in response to queries regarding the Special Grant arrangement under Articles 112C and 112D of the Federal Constitution.
Meanwhile, Gabungan Rakyat Sabah (GRS) has maintained its position that a revised Special Grant rate for Sabah should be implemented this year.
GRS secretary-general Datuk Armizan Mohd Ali previously stated that despite ongoing legal proceedings at the Court of Appeal over the 40 per cent entitlement, he remains confident the federal government will agree to review and increase the Special Grant rate in 2026.
The matter continues to draw political attention as discussions over Sabah’s revenue rights remain a key issue in federal-state relations.
