Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim has stressed that Malaysia’s main challenge does not stem from racial issues, but rather from individuals who abuse power for personal gain.
He said Malaysians of all backgrounds must continue strengthening unity and reject attempts by certain parties to sow hatred and division within society.
Anwar highlighted that Malaysia’s multicultural society — comprising Malays, Chinese, Indians, Orang Asli, Iban and Kadazan communities — is a major national strength.
“Our problem is not race, but abuse of power… do we want this to continue?” he said during his speech at the Pertubuhan Lima Generasi (PLG) Malaysia dinner here last night.
The Prime Minister also urged the public not to be influenced by leaders who exploit racial sentiments for political gain, warning that such narratives could weaken national harmony.
He said Malaysians are fully capable of living together peacefully and working collectively as a strong nation, provided they are not misled by divisive rhetoric.
“We must show that we have the strength to bring positive change,” he added, calling for continued efforts in building a better future for the country and the next generation.
Anwar also stressed that leaders must act with honesty and sincerity when entrusted with governing responsibilities.
He criticised corrupt practices, saying governance must not be driven by greed or commissions, which he said would ultimately damage the country’s future.
The Prime Minister further called on young Malaysians to actively participate in national development and support reform efforts to strengthen the country moving forward.
