Datin Seri Rosmah Mansor has criticised Housing and Local Government Minister Nga Kor Ming over the alleged use of her image and likeness in campaign materials related to the Johor state election.
The wife of former Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak claimed that statements attributed to her in the campaign materials were fabricated and intended to mislead voters.
Rosmah described the alleged act as shameful, saying it was unbecoming of a cabinet minister. She argued that political leaders should set an example by practising mature politics instead of resorting to what she described as defamatory and manipulative campaign tactics. The dispute has also reignited debate over the spread of misinformation and the use of political imagery during election campaigns.
“I have never made the statement shown in the image. This is a clear lie, carried out with malicious intent to confuse voters,” she said in a Facebook post on Wednesday.
She also called on Communications Minister Datuk Fahmi Fadzil to take action against Nga if he was found to have disseminated false content.
“If ordinary citizens can face action for spreading false content, is a DAP minister immune simply because he is part of the government?” she questioned.
Rosmah stressed that she would not remain silent over the matter, adding that while political rivals are free to compete, they should not resort to using another person’s image or creating what she described as false claims to deceive the public.
