Date:

Singapore Prime Minister Lawrence Wong is set to undertake a special visit to Malaysia on Friday, underscoring the close ties between the two neighbouring nations.

During his trip, Wong will meet Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim in Kuala Lumpur. According to Singapore’s Foreign Ministry, the leaders are expected to review bilateral cooperation and exchange views on matters of mutual interest.

Among the key topics on the agenda are follow-ups to decisions made during the Leaders’ Retreat held on Dec 4, 2025. The annual retreat serves as a platform for both sides to advance joint initiatives and strengthen policy coordination.

Strong Bilateral and Regional Ties

Malaysia and Singapore share longstanding and comprehensive relations spanning trade, investment, connectivity and regional collaboration within ASEAN.

Singapore remains Malaysia’s second largest trading partner. In 2025, total bilateral trade reached RM402.35 billion, reflecting a 1.5% increase compared to the previous year.

The visit is expected to reaffirm both governments’ commitment to deepening economic cooperation and enhancing regional stability through continued engagement.
