SUPP Marks 67th Anniversary With Renewed Call To Build Stronger Sarawak

Date:

The Sarawak United People’s Party (SUPP) marked its 67th anniversary on June 4 with a renewed commitment to building a stronger and more prosperous Sarawak.

SUPP president, who is also Sarawak Deputy Premier Datuk Amar Dr Sim Kui Hian, said the state’s oldest political party has remained guided by a simple yet powerful philosophy over the past 67 years.

In a broader context, political parties in Sarawak continue to position themselves around themes of unity, inclusiveness and development as the state advances its role within Malaysia.

He said SUPP has long embraced a progressive, inclusive and respectful Sarawak Way, aimed at protecting the state’s identity while uniting its people in the spirit of nation-building.

Dr Sim noted that in an era where divisive politics and negativity have become more common, such values are more important than ever.

He said SUPP members have witnessed and contributed to key milestones across generations, including constitutional recognition of rights under the Malaysia Agreement 1963 (MA63) and Sarawak’s position as an equal partner in the Federation of Malaysia.

However, he stressed that the journey towards full progress is still ongoing.

Dr Sim added that previous generations of leaders rose to meet the challenges of their time, and it is now the responsibility of the current generation to do the same.

He called on SUPP members to move forward with renewed purpose to build a stronger, united and more prosperous Sarawak for all communities and future generations.

He ended by extending birthday wishes to the party on its 67th anniversary.
