Ti Lian Ker Hits Back At DAP Over ‘Two-Faced’ Claim

Date:

Former MCA vice-president Ti Lian Ker has fired back at DAP’s Teo Nie Ching over remarks implying Barisan Nasional is “two-faced”, urging the party to reflect on its own political conduct instead.

Ti said DAP should abandon what he described as a moral high ground, arguing that the party often presents different narratives when in opposition compared to when it is in government.

He claimed DAP had previously championed reforms while in opposition but was now offering justifications for the slower pace of change under the unity government.

Ti also pointed to DAP chairman Gobind Singh Deo’s recent remarks, where he highlighted the need for consensus within the unity government as a factor influencing reform implementation.

He further alleged inconsistencies involving Teo, referring to a past podcast appearance where she reportedly denied claims about recognising the Unified Examination Certificate (UEC) if DAP came into power, only for critics to cite earlier statements.

Ti added that DAP was guilty of “selective amnesia” when dealing with controversies involving political rivals, saying the party had previously pushed for resignations in similar situations.

However, he said the party would later invoke due process when the issue involved its own leaders.

Responding to Teo’s remarks during DAP’s Johor candidates unveiling, Ti said the party should not justify shifting positions under the guise of pragmatism.

He also warned that political leaders should be mindful of past statements circulating online, saying “the internet never forgets” and voters could easily verify previous claims.

“It isn’t wise to accuse BN of being two-faced when screenshots can prove you are no better,” he said.
