National women’s doubles pair Carmen Ting and Ong Xin Yee have continued their impressive run at the Macau Open Badminton Championships after booking their place in the quarter-finals.
Playing at the East Asian Games Dome earlier today, the second-seeded Malaysian duo produced a solid performance to defeat Taiwan’s Chou Yun An and Sung Yi Hsuan in straight sets, 21-13, 21-17.
From the opening game, Carmen and Xin Yee dictated the tempo with aggressive attacking play that placed their opponents under sustained pressure, allowing them to comfortably secure the first set.
Their momentum carried into the second game, where they maintained composure despite falling behind early at 3-7 before gradually fighting back to regain control of the match.
After edging ahead at 9-8, the Malaysian pair tightened their game and steadily pulled away, showcasing consistency and tactical discipline to close out the second set 21-17.
The world No. 23 pair will next face South Korea’s sixth seeds Kim Hye Jeong and Moon In Seo in the quarter-finals after the Korean duo defeated Taiwan’s Hsieh Mi Yen and Yu Chien Hui 21-14, 21-19.
The quarter-final clash is scheduled to take place tomorrow as the Malaysian pair continue their bid for a strong finish in the tournament.
