Google has introduced a new update to its Gemini AI platform, allowing it to generate personalised images by pulling context from users’ Google Photos library through its “Personal Intelligence” feature.
The feature enables Gemini to use data from connected Google apps, including Google Photos, to create images that reflect a user’s personal lifestyle, preferences and visual history.
According to Google, users can input prompts such as “Design my dream house” or “Create a picture of my desert island essentials,” with the AI generating visuals that are tailored based on recognised people, interests and patterns from their photo data.
Under the system, Gemini uses labels in Google Photos to identify individuals such as family and friends, helping the AI generate more personalised outputs using its Nano Banana 2 image model.
Google clarified that while users who opt in will allow Gemini to access contextual information from their Photos library, the company does not directly train its AI models on private photo content. However, it may use limited data such as prompts and generated responses to improve performance.
The feature is currently rolling out to eligible AI Plus, Pro and Ultra subscribers in the United States, with broader availability planned for Chrome desktop users and additional regions in the near future.
The move marks another step in Google’s push toward more personalised AI experiences, integrating its ecosystem of services to deliver more context-aware digital tools.
