Netflix has announced a major overhaul of its mobile application, introducing a new vertical video feed as part of a broader redesign aimed at improving user engagement and content discovery.
The company confirmed that the updated app will roll out at the end of April, describing the changes as part of its effort to reflect the growing overlap between mobile and television viewing habits.
According to Netflix, the redesign is designed to make it easier for users to browse and interact with content in a more intuitive, mobile-friendly format, especially as short-form video consumption continues to rise.
The new vertical feed will feature short clips from Netflix shows and movies, allowing users to quickly swipe through content and tap into full episodes or films if interested, similar to short-video platforms.
The move follows earlier discussions by company executives, who noted that video podcasts and mobile-first viewing behaviour are increasingly shaping how audiences consume entertainment.
Netflix also previously tested similar vertical content features on its TV platform as part of efforts to modernise its user interface across devices.
The company said the redesign is part of its long-term strategy to evolve alongside changing viewer habits and expand its entertainment ecosystem across multiple formats and screens.
