Date:

Sarawak is projecting a budget surplus of RM144 million for 2026, with estimated revenue of RM13.05 billion and total ordinary expenditure of RM12.91 billion.

Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg, when tabling the Supply (2026) Bill, 2025 during the State Legislative Assembly sitting, said the state’s strategic and expansionary budget continues to reflect the success of revenue reengineering and prudent financial management.

“The 2026 Sarawak Budget provides an allocation of RM9.3 billion for development purposes. It proposes total ordinary expenditure of RM12.9 billion, with RM5.6 billion allocated for operating expenditure and RM7.3 billion for appropriation to the Development Fund Account,” he said.

He added that the appropriation is intended to bolster the Development Fund Account rollover balance to finance the RM9.3 billion in development spending planned for 2026.
