Federal Govt Pledges Stronger Cooperation With Sabah’s New Unity Cabinet, Anwar to Visit Sabah Tomorrow

Date:

The Federal Government has reaffirmed its commitment to working closely with Sabah’s leadership to ensure the state’s development progresses in a comprehensive, inclusive, and sustainable manner.

Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim’s senior press secretary, Tunku Nashrul Abaidah, said strong cooperation between state and federal levels is essential in addressing key issues such as infrastructure, public service delivery, economic growth, and the overall welfare of Sabahans.

“The Prime Minister’s Office extends its highest congratulations to Datuk Seri Hajiji Noor on the formation of the new Sabah Unity Cabinet,” he said during the PMO’s daily briefing.

He added that the newly formed line-up reflects political maturity, unity, and a renewed commitment to advancing Sabah’s development agenda over the next five years. Tunku Nashrul said the cohesive leadership is expected to strengthen ties between the Federal and Sabah governments, ensuring the aspirations of the people are fulfilled more effectively.

Tunku Nashrul also confirmed that the Prime Minister is scheduled to visit Sabah tomorrow to attend the Majlis Sentuhan MADANI Bersama Rakyat Negeri Sabah at the Sabah International Convention Centre (SICC). Anwar is also expected to meet Chief Minister Hajiji and members of the new state Cabinet.

Hajiji was sworn in on 30 November for a second term as Sabah Chief Minister. The Gabungan Rakyat Sabah (GRS) chairman took his oath before Yang di-Pertua Negeri Tun Musa Aman at Istana Seri Kinabalu.

In the 17th Sabah state election, GRS secured 29 of the 55 seats it contested. Hajiji successfully defended the Sulaman seat with 10,639 votes, defeating four other candidates.
