26-Year-Old’s Stomach Turned ‘Trash Bin’ – 2 Wrenches and 7 Toothbrushes Removed!

Date:

A bizarre and rare medical case in Jaipur, Rajasthan, has left doctors stunned after a 26-year-old man was found to have multiple foreign objects in his stomach. The patient sought treatment for severe abdominal pain, and upon examination, doctors discovered two iron wrenches and seven toothbrushes lodged in his stomach. Surgeons described the patient’s stomach as “like a trash bin.” Thankfully, the operation was successful, saving his life.

According to local media, the man had been experiencing persistent abdominal pain and visited the SR Kara Memorial Hospital in Jaipur. Initial X-rays and ultrasounds revealed several unusually shaped, hard objects inside his stomach, shocking even the most experienced physicians.

Senior gastroenterologists noted that the situation was critical. Endoscopic examination showed that sharp objects had penetrated the stomach wall, posing a risk of perforation or severe bleeding, making removal via endoscopy impossible. The medical team promptly performed open surgery, safely extracting the two iron wrenches and seven toothbrushes.

Hospital staff later revealed that the patient, from the Beedwara area, suffers from a psychological disorder or pica, a condition that causes individuals to consume non-food items. He is now recovering well and remains under observation for further treatment.

Medical experts said the case posed significant challenges but highlighted the importance of timely diagnosis, proper intervention, and coordinated care. It also serves as a reminder of the need to address mental health issues and unusual behaviors early.
