Doctor Reveals Shocking STD Risk Among Housewives of Uniformed Men

Date:

A doctor’s account of treating female patients with sexually transmitted diseases (STDs) has raised concern among social media users.

The doctor noted that wives of men working in certain professions—particularly those in uniformed services, long-distance lorry drivers, offshore workers, and couples in long-distance relationships—appear to be at higher risk of contracting STDs.

“Based on my experience as a doctor, on average, wives married to men in uniformed services, lorry drivers, offshore workers, or long-distance relationships are at higher risk of STDs,” he wrote in a social media thread.

He added that HIV testing is mandatory for couples opening a pregnancy health book (buku pink) in Malaysia. “The reason is that some husbands engage in sexual activities outside marriage,” he explained, revealing what he has observed in his clinical practice.

The doctor emphasised that his post was not meant as an accusation but was based on real cases he has handled. He clarified that he was not judging individuals or discrediting their professions.

“This is not judgmental, but most STD cases in clinics come from these backgrounds. Sadly, the wives are often innocent housewives,” he added, expressing sympathy for affected women.

He also highlighted that treatment is often complicated because some husbands refuse to undergo testing even when their wives have tested positive. This makes it difficult to prevent further spread of the infections.

“The long-term effects are worrying, not only for the couples but also for the wider community, especially when the wife is pregnant,” he noted.

The post drew mixed reactions from netizens, many of whom agreed that sexual health awareness needs to be improved. One user commented:

“My husband works in the Air Force. He has an annual medical check-up, and I always ask to see the overall results. Even as a housewife, I need to be aware. That’s why now nurses ask husbands to come for HIV testing when opening the pregnancy book. You can have a loyal wife, but situations like this still happen.”
