Datuk Seri Shamsul Iskandar Mohd Akin’s lawyer has cautioned businessman Albert Tei to refrain from making public statements that could interfere with ongoing court proceedings.
Datuk Amer Hamzah Arshad said his legal team has written to the Attorney General to report comments made by Tei on various podcasts. He added that further action may be taken if Tei continues to make remarks that could influence the court cases.
“We have identified several interviews and comments made by Tei in some podcasts that touch on cases involving himself and Shamsul. We hope he will stop commenting on these cases, particularly those involving Shamsul, as the matters should be addressed through the proper legal process, not through the media,” Amer said.
He emphasized that if Tei has any evidence, it should be presented in court rather than discussed publicly. Amer also noted that while the cases against Shamsul and Tei are being heard separately, Tei’s statements could still disrupt both proceedings.
Earlier, Shamsul Iskandar was charged at the Kuala Lumpur Sessions Court with four counts of corruption involving RM176,829.03, related to the approval of mineral exploration licences in Sabah.
He was also charged with soliciting a RM64,924 bribe from Tei in 2023 and 2024, a case previously heard at the Shah Alam Sessions Court in December last year. Shamsul pleaded not guilty to all charges, which were read individually before Judge Suzana Hussin.
