A chilling discovery was made in New Taipei City’s Xinzhuang District last night (28th), where a local neighborhood chief reported a suspicious suitcase emitting a foul odor from a drainage ditch. When police arrived and opened the case, they were shocked to find a decomposing male body, wrapped in a black plastic bag and infested with maggots. Surveillance footage and the story behind the suitcase are now under investigation.
The incident occurred around 11 p.m. near Lane 381 of Xintai Road. After receiving the tip-off, officers from Zhongping Police Station responded swiftly. Upon detecting what seemed to be the stench of a corpse, they cordoned off the area and called in forensic specialists.
The suitcase, approximately 27 inches in size, was confirmed to contain the body of a man estimated to be around 50 years old. Police believe the man had been dead for several days based on the condition of the remains. A special task force has been formed, and the New Taipei City Criminal Investigation Division and forensic team are assisting in the case. Police Commissioner Liao Xuncheng has already convened an emergency meeting, with investigators now working under the direction of the New Taipei District Prosecutors’ Office to identify the killer as soon as possible.
Interestingly, the suitcase used to hide the body is identified as a CENTURION – a well-known American luggage brand popular among flight attendants and influencers for its stylish design and durable quality. The brand, known as the “flight attendant suitcase,” is typically associated with beauty and creativity, not with gruesome crimes like this.
