School Principals Face Up to RM1,500 Fine If Students Vape

Date:

All school principals in Vietnam face fines of up to 10 million dong (around RM1,500) if students are caught vaping on their premises, according to a report by VnExpress.

The fines are part of a strict measure introduced by authorities to curb the rising use of e-cigarettes among teenagers.

The penalties form part of Decree 371, a new administrative enforcement framework announced by the Ministry of Health, which came into effect on December 31 last year.

Under the regulations, school principals can be fined between 5 million dong (RM752) and 10 million dong if authorities find that they have failed to manage, supervise, or prevent students from using vaping or tobacco products on school grounds.

Students or individuals caught directly using such products may face fines ranging from 3 million dong (RM451) to 5 million dong.

All confiscated items will be seized and destroyed.

Health officials noted that this marks the first time Vietnamese law has placed legal responsibility on school administrations regarding vaping issues.
