Man To Face Court In Decomposed Body Murder Case

Date:

A suspect in a murder case involving the discovery of a decomposed body wrapped in a mattress with its hands tied at a shophouse in Pokok Mangga will be charged in court tomorrow.

Melaka police chief Datuk Dzulkhairi Mukhtar said the investigation papers have been completed and returned by the deputy public prosecutor’s office.

“Further instructions are to charge the 40-year-old suspect in court tomorrow under Section 302 of the Penal Code for murder,” he said in a statement.

The case previously made headlines after the remains of a man believed to have been murdered were found wrapped in a mattress with his hands bound at a shophouse in Pokok Mangga at about 7pm on May 28.

Police said the body was badly decomposed and believed to have been dead for more than two weeks to a month before being discovered by the premises owner, who checked the shophouse after failing to reach the tenant.

Following the discovery, police arrested a man to assist investigations under Section 302 of the Penal Code.
