National development goes beyond physical progress and modern infrastructure and should be measured by how much it improves the welfare and well-being of the people, said Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim.
He said all development initiatives must ensure that no group is left behind in the distribution of prosperity.
“Only in this way can the fruits of progress be enjoyed equitably by all Malaysians,” he said in his message in conjunction with the Federal Territories Day celebration on Feb 1 (Sunday).
In his message, Anwar said the spirit of compassion, mutual respect and togetherness that underpins the Madani government will continue to be strengthened to safeguard harmony, stability and shared well-being.
He also extended his heartfelt greetings to residents of Kuala Lumpur, Putrajaya and Labuan on the occasion of Federal Territories Day.
Federal Territories Day is observed annually on Feb 1 in Kuala Lumpur, Putrajaya and Labuan.
Historically, the day commemorates the transfer of Kuala Lumpur to federal control in 1974.
