Police have detained five men suspected of involvement in an armed riot at the Pinggiran Bukit Jalil People’s Housing Programme (PPR) flats on Saturday.
Cheras police chief Rosdi Daud said officers received a report from a man in his early 20s who claimed he was attacked by a group wielding knives and baseball bats.
Acting swiftly, police from the Cheras headquarters arrested the five suspects, aged between 18 and their 40s, on the same day. Checks revealed that three had prior criminal records, while all five tested negative for drugs in urine screenings, Sinar Harian reported.
Rosdi noted that the incident appeared to have arisen from a dispute involving one of the suspects and the complainant’s wife.
“All of the suspects have been remanded until tomorrow to assist in investigations under Section 148 of the Penal Code,” he said.
