Malaysians Urged To Carry Valid ID And Follow Local Authorities Amid Egypt Tensions

Date:

The Embassy of Malaysia in Cairo has issued a consular advisory urging all Malaysians in Egypt to avoid areas affected by civil unrest or with a heavy presence of security forces.

In a statement posted on its official Facebook page, the embassy stressed that Malaysian citizens should carry valid identification, including passports, visas, and student cards, at all times.

The advisory also warned against sharing or spreading unverified information that could be interpreted as disrupting public order, which may violate local laws. Citizens were advised to remain alert to developments and follow instructions issued by Egyptian authorities.

The embassy encouraged Malaysians to check the latest travel updates from airlines, remain calm, and obtain news only from verified sources. All citizens are reminded to stay vigilant and comply promptly with directives from local authorities.

Malaysians who have not yet registered with the embassy, or need to update their contact details and location, are urged to do so via the official e-Consular portal at https://ekonsular.kln.gov.my/login.

For emergencies or consular assistance, citizens can reach the Embassy of Malaysia in Cairo at 10 Street 261, Maadi, Cairo, by phone at +02 2517 4210 or the 24-hour line at +20 120 027 6388, or via email at mwcairo@kln.gov.my or cai.consular@kln.gov.my.
