The Jabatan Kesihatan Wilayah Persekutuan Kuala Lumpur & Putrajaya (JKWPKL&P) has shared guidance for the public to ensure food safety when visiting Ramadan bazaars this season.
In a recent Facebook post, the department highlighted key hygiene practices for choosing food vendors. Shoppers are advised to select stalls where staff wear clean head nets and aprons, avoid handling food with bare hands, refrain from wearing hand accessories, maintain short and clean nails, and cover any wounds on their hands. Vendors should also avoid coughing or sneezing near food.
The post further urged visitors to consider stall cleanliness and location. Food stalls should be free from proximity to drains or rubbish bins, properly cover all food items, and keep ice in clean containers.
The department emphasised that observing these practices is part of a shared responsibility to maintain food safety during the festive season.
JKWPKL&P concluded the post with the hashtags #budaya3M, #PerhatiDanPilih, #lihathidurasa, and #KeselamatanMakananTanggungjawabBersama.
This advisory aims to reduce the risk of foodborne illnesses while allowing Malaysians to enjoy traditional Ramadan treats safely.
