Customer Horrified After Finding Live Caterpillar In Laksa From Bazaar

Date:

A woman was left horrified after allegedly finding a live caterpillar wriggling in her laksa purchased from a bazaar. She shared a video on Threads, showing the small greenish worm moving on top of the laksa broth, among leaves and pieces of onion in a plastic takeaway container.

In the clip, the caterpillar appears to be alive as the person filming zooms in, while the woman expressed her shock in the caption. “Luckily I noticed it. What is this, Ya Allah. This is why I’m scared to buy food at bazaars,” she wrote.

The video quickly went viral, attracting reactions from netizens. Some speculated the caterpillar may not have been cooked in the laksa, with one user pointing out it would not survive the cooking process and might have fallen into the bowl while eating.

Other commenters responded with humour, with one joking, “That means it’s fresh,” and another adding, “Extra protein.” Meanwhile, some expressed surprise that the caterpillar was still alive, saying, “Hey, it’s still alive!”

The incident adds to growing concerns about food hygiene at bazaars, following similar reports such as maggots found on grilled beef nasi kerabu during Ramadan in Sepang.
