Taipei’s iconic “Rainbow Six” landmark in the bustling Ximending district has been freshly renovated and unveiled on August 9, just in time to welcome visitors from home and abroad ahead of the city’s Pride Parade this October. The Taipei City Department of Information and Tourism shared that the update includes a complete repainting and resurfacing of the vibrant rainbow colors, enhancing the visual impact and allowing visitors to capture both the colorful landmark and the entrance to Ximending’s shopping district in photos — highlighting Taipei’s image as a gender-friendly city.
Since its installation, the Rainbow Six has become a popular photo spot for tourists visiting Ximending. This renovation aims to boost the landmark’s brightness and clarity, encouraging more visitors to explore the lively area while reinforcing Taipei’s commitment to diversity, inclusion, and gender friendliness on an international stage.
Ximending is known not only as a trendy hotspot favored by young people but also as a key gender-friendly tourist destination in Taipei. Besides Rainbow Six, the city’s former Civic Square also features a rainbow installation, where visitors can easily snap photos with the landmark alongside the iconic Taipei 101 building, creating memorable keepsakes.
To further promote gender-friendly tourism, the city will host the “Color Taipei” series during Pride Month in October, featuring rainbow-themed activities such as sightseeing bus tours and collaborations with LGBTQ-friendly accommodations. The events warmly invite residents and tourists alike to experience Taipei’s vibrant, inclusive spirit as a leading gender-friendly city in Asia.
