The family of a 24-year-old Malaysian soldier who was allegedly assaulted at the 25th Battalion Camp, Royal Malay Regiment (RAMD) in Bentong, Pahang, continues to grapple with anxiety as his condition remains critical and unchanged.
His father, Rosafindi Tambi Chik, 49, a former commando, said Muhammad Amirul Raziq is still unconscious and dependent on life-support equipment. He added that the latest medical update offered little change in his son’s condition.
“I last visited him yesterday, and the situation remains the same. He is still on medical support and has not regained consciousness,” he said when contacted.
Rosafindi noted that his son has been in this condition since March 30 and the family is anxiously awaiting further updates from doctors regarding his recovery prospects.
He also confirmed that the family is closely following the ongoing investigation into the incident and will pursue legal action against those responsible once the process allows.
According to him, the suspect is currently under remand, and the family is hoping for a transparent and thorough investigation before proceeding with further steps, including a civil suit.
Previously, reports indicated that dissatisfaction over storeroom cleaning duties allegedly triggered the assault, involving a Junior Non-Commissioned Officer who is said to have struck several personnel, including slapping and punching them.
An initial statement from the Malaysian Army confirmed that the victim suffered severe brain oxygen deprivation, leading to tissue damage, while police have since opened an investigation into the case following an official report lodged at the Bentong District Police Headquarters.
