Education Minister Moves To Clear Name After Defamation Allegations

Date:

Education Minister Fadhlina Sidek has confirmed that she held a meeting with her legal team today to discuss potential legal action over what she described as defamatory allegations made against her.

She stressed that claims suggesting she had prohibited the chanting of “takbir” and the recitation of qunut nazilah were completely false and amounted to serious defamation. In today’s fast-moving digital environment, she noted that unverified information can spread rapidly and cause significant reputational harm if not addressed promptly.

“The defamation levelled against me is extremely serious and cannot be taken lightly,” she said in a statement.

Fadhlina added that the planned defamation suit is intended not only to clear her name but also to serve as a reminder to all parties to exercise responsibility before circulating any claims that have not been verified. In today’s social media-driven landscape, she said, accountability in sharing information is increasingly important to prevent misinformation from taking root.

She emphasised that legal action is necessary to uphold the truth and ensure that public discourse is based on facts rather than baseless accusations.

At the same time, she expressed appreciation to her legal team for their commitment and thorough preparation in handling the forthcoming proceedings, saying she was confident in the steps being taken to address the matter appropriately.
