A woman was found dead after a fire destroyed her home in Taman Mantin on Friday night.
The incident, which occurred at about 11.30pm, saw the victim, believed to be in her 30s, asleep inside the house when the blaze broke out.
Nilai assemblyman J Arul Kumar said he was informed that the victim had been living in the house with her younger brother, who had gone out to buy food at the time of the incident.
“They were living there together. I was told that residents alerted the fire department after noticing the house on fire,” he said.
He added that by the time the brother returned home, the house had already been completely engulfed in flames, and his sister was later found burnt beyond recognition.
Meanwhile, the Negeri Sembilan Fire and Rescue Department Operations Centre said two fire engines with 14 personnel were deployed to the scene to extinguish the blaze.
Upon arrival, firefighters found a single-storey terrace house measuring 20 by 30 feet had been completely destroyed.
“A woman was found inside the main bedroom and was confirmed dead at the scene,” the department said.
