A 15-year-old boy was killed after a motorcycle stunt allegedly went wrong, causing him to lose control and crash into a schoolmate’s motorcycle in Kampung Pelong, Sungai Tong on Tuesday evening.
The incident occurred at about 6.45pm when the victim and two other schoolmates, all aged between 14 and 15, were riding motorcycles in a group after leaving school nearby.
Setiu district police chief Superintendent Mohd Zain Mat Dris said the victim was believed to have been performing a wheelie while riding a Honda C100 before the motorcycle became unstable.
The manoeuvre reportedly caused him to collide with the rear of a Yamaha Y16ZR ridden by a 15-year-old friend, resulting in both riders falling onto the road.
A third motorcyclist, aged 14, who was travelling behind the group, was unable to avoid the incident and subsequently struck the victim.
The victim suffered severe head injuries and was pronounced dead due to the impact of the crash.
Police have classified the case as a road traffic incident and are continuing investigations.
