Patient Suspended For Over An Hour As Hospital Staff Allegedly Forget Therapy Session

Date:

A woman in Renhuai, Guizhou province, has raised concerns after reportedly being left suspended on a medical traction device for over an hour when hospital staff allegedly forgot to end her treatment session.

The patient said she visited a local traditional Chinese medicine hospital for leg traction therapy, where both legs were strapped to a machine in a partially inverted position as part of a “pulling” treatment intended to last around 20 minutes.

However, she claimed that after the session exceeded the scheduled time, no medical staff returned to assist her. Despite calling out for help, she said she initially received no response.

After waiting for more than an hour, the woman contacted a friend, who then helped alert hospital staff. She was eventually released from the device. According to her account, staff later admitted that they had “forgotten” about the treatment and that a timer had failed to go off.

Local health authorities in Renhuai have confirmed receipt of a complaint and said an investigation is underway.

Hospital personnel reportedly acknowledged that a preset timing system malfunction contributed to the patient being left in the traction position far longer than intended.
