A smuggling attempt involving an unusual concealment method was uncovered at the Man Kam To control point after customs officers stopped a male traveller who had hidden 1.65kg of silver pellets inside a disposable adult diaper in an attempt to evade inspection.
According to customs authorities, the incident took place at the passenger clearance hall when officers on duty noticed the man walking with an unusually stiff and unnatural gait while entering through the “nothing to declare” channel. His suspicious movements prompted officers to stop him for further examination.
During the inspection, officers discovered that the man was wearing an extra layer of clothing under his trousers, which turned out to be an adult diaper. Upon closer checks, the concealed item was found to contain multiple plastic-wrapped packets filled with grey metallic pellets.
The total weight of the seized material was confirmed to be 1.65kg. When questioned, the man admitted that he had been recruited by others to transport the items across the border in exchange for a handling fee.
The suspected silver pellets were later sent for laboratory testing, where authorities confirmed they were high-purity silver with a fineness of 99.99 per cent. The case has since been referred to relevant authorities for further investigation and legal action.
Customs officials reiterated that using body concealment methods to smuggle goods is a serious offence. They warned that individuals found guilty could face criminal prosecution and severe penalties under the law.
The case adds to a growing list of increasingly creative smuggling attempts intercepted at border checkpoints, as enforcement agencies continue to tighten surveillance on cross-border movements.
