A 6-year-old girl in Henan, China, who had been experiencing recurrent vaginal bleeding for four years, was found to have a foreign object lodged in her body during a hospital examination. Doctors later successfully removed a small black toy tyre measuring about 1cm in size, an incident that has drawn widespread public attention.
According to local media reports, the child first began showing symptoms of genital bleeding at the age of two. Over the years, she had sought medical treatment multiple times at local hospitals and was repeatedly diagnosed with vulvitis, receiving treatment that failed to resolve the condition.
It was only after she was brought to Henan Children’s Hospital that doctors conducted a more thorough examination and discovered the hidden object. She was then immediately scheduled for surgery to remove it.
Medical staff at the hospital said the toy tyre had been inside the child’s body for several years and was the primary cause of her prolonged bleeding. They also noted that in the past five years, the hospital had treated 245 cases involving foreign objects found in children’s genital areas, most of them involving young children acting out of curiosity.
Doctors stressed that children often insert small objects into their bodies due to curiosity and lack of awareness, particularly items such as toys or small household objects. Parents are therefore urged to closely monitor their children and provide early education on body safety.
They also advised that any unusual bleeding or discomfort in children should be promptly examined at a proper medical facility to avoid delayed diagnosis and complications.
The girl has since undergone surgery and is reported to be recovering well. The case has sparked strong reactions online, with many netizens expressing concern over parental supervision and calling for greater awareness and vigilance among caregivers.
