The political situation in Negeri Sembilan has taken a new turn after Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Aminuddin Harun is set to convene an urgent meeting with PKR and DAP leaders at 3pm today at his official residence.
The meeting is widely expected to focus on the recent announcement by UMNO and Barisan Nasional (BN) state lawmakers withdrawing support for the Menteri Besar, a move that has triggered uncertainty over the state government’s stability.
Earlier today, Negeri Sembilan UMNO announced that all 14 BN state assemblymen had withdrawn their support and expressed loss of confidence in Aminuddin’s leadership during a press conference held at 10am.
In response to the unfolding developments, Perikatan Nasional (PN) is also understood to have called a press conference at 12pm to state its position on the matter, while DAP is scheduled to hold an emergency meeting at 2pm.
The Menteri Besar, who also serves as Negeri Sembilan PKR chairman, is expected to gather Pakatan Harapan assemblymen in a closed-door discussion to chart the next course of action.
Checks by reporters earlier today at both the State Secretariat building and the official residence showed a calm atmosphere, with no immediate signs of political unrest despite the escalating tension.
However, security measures were observed outside the Menteri Besar’s residence, where traffic cones were placed, indicating heightened precaution.
Sources also revealed that Aminuddin had earlier met with PKR division leaders in Port Dickson before heading to Kuala Lumpur for meetings with senior party figures, believed to be part of efforts to manage the developing political crisis.
