Police arrested two Indian nationals and seized various types of untaxed alcoholic beverages worth more than RM556,000 during a raid at a premises in Taman Perindustrian Pandamaran, Port Klang on Wednesday.
The Op Taring Alpha 2 operation was carried out at around 9.35pm by the WCB/PSK Division of the Internal Security and Public Order Department (JKDNKA) Bukit Aman together with the Criminal Investigation Division of the Klang Selatan district police headquarters and the Klang Royal City Council (MBDK).
Mohd Zaki Ashar, commander of the WCB/PSK General Operations Force under JKDNKA, said the operation was conducted following intelligence gathered on the storage and distribution of untaxed alcohol in the Klang area.
“As a result of the raid, we detained two Indian nationals believed to be the caretaker and worker of the premises.
“Inspections also uncovered 354 cartons and 142 boxes of various beer brands involving 4,893 litres, as well as 25 boxes of liquor amounting to 238.55 litres,” he said in a statement on Thursday.
Police also seized a Nissan UD lorry together with its keys and cash amounting to RM3,011.
Mohd Zaki said the total value of the seizures, confiscated items and compounds was estimated at RM556,414.87.
Checks further revealed that both suspects failed to produce valid identification documents and documents related to the sale of untaxed alcoholic beverages.
He added that all suspects and seized items had been handed over to the Klang Selatan district police headquarters for further action.
The case is being investigated under Section 135(1)(d) of the Customs Act 1957 and Section 6(1)(c) of the Immigration Act 1959/63.
Meanwhile, MBDK also issued two compound notices amounting to RM2,000 for licensing and advertisement offences under the MBDK By-Laws 2007.
