A tourist suffered injuries after attempting a backflip from the roof bars of a moving shuttle pickup truck along Pattaya Beach Road in Chonburi, Thailand, early Monday morning.
The incident reportedly occurred at around 2am near Pattaya Beach 6/1 in Bangla Mung district.
According to footage recorded by another passenger, the man was hanging onto the rear roof rail of the moving vehicle before attempting a backward somersault while the truck was still in motion.
The stunt initially drew cheers from his companions but quickly turned dangerous when the tourist lost his balance and crashed face-first onto the road.
Witnesses said the man later managed to get back on his feet despite suffering a swollen gash on his forehead.
His three companions were seen helping him gather his belongings before the group left the area without seeking medical treatment.
A witness also claimed the tourist appeared to be intoxicated during the incident.
Meanwhile, a 59-year-old pickup truck driver who viewed the viral footage warned that such reckless behaviour could endanger both passengers and other road users.
He also pointed out that drivers could potentially face legal consequences for incidents involving passengers on their vehicles.
Following the video’s circulation online, many netizens criticised the tourist’s actions and blamed him for the injuries sustained during the failed stunt.
