8-Year-Old Boy Mocked For Dream Of Becoming PM Gets Emotional Moment With PM Anwar Ibrahim

Date:

An eight-year-old boy from Pulau Banggi experienced a memorable moment in his life after personally handing a handwritten letter to Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim during a community event today.

Syam Aariz Rayyan Abdullah met the Prime Minister at the “Perdana Menteri Bersama Masyarakat Setempat Pulau Banggi” programme, where he was given the opportunity to deliver the letter he had written himself.

According to his mother, Norsakinah Junaidi, 33, the boy was excited after learning about Anwar’s visit and insisted on writing the letter as a way to express his ambition of becoming Prime Minister one day.

She said her son had often been mocked by friends at school for his dream, but remained determined to prove that his ambition was serious and not something to be laughed at.

The family arrived as early as 8am to wait for the chance to meet the Prime Minister, with the child hoping for a brief personal handover of the letter.

When the moment finally came, Syam Aariz Rayyan was visibly overjoyed as he successfully handed the letter directly to Anwar during the event.

For the young boy, the encounter was more than just a meeting—it served as encouragement to continue believing in his aspirations despite being ridiculed.

His mother said she will continue to support his interests and education, stressing that confidence and perseverance are key to achieving success.

What may seem like a simple piece of paper, she added, represents a child’s courage to dream big and the belief that no ambition is too small to be taken seriously.
