A video shared on the Facebook page Phuket Times has sparked criticism online after showing two foreign tourists casually playing football inside a shopping mall in Phuket, Thailand, while shoppers looked on.
The footage shows one man removing his shoes before kicking a football back and forth with another individual in a crowded public area. Despite attempts by bystanders to stop them, the pair continued playing, seemingly unfazed by the surrounding crowd.
Shoppers expressed concern that the ball could accidentally strike children, elderly visitors, or damage nearby retail outlets, with many describing the behaviour as dangerous and disruptive in a busy commercial environment.
The incident has since gone viral, prompting widespread discussion on social media about tourist conduct and public safety inside private commercial spaces.
Many online users urged authorities and mall management to enforce stricter rules and improve security oversight to prevent similar incidents that could harm both visitors and the reputation of Phuket’s tourism industry.
Some commenters also questioned the absence of security personnel at the time of the incident, while others criticised what they described as increasingly inappropriate behaviour by some foreign tourists in recent times.
