Kindness On The Road: Man Pays Toll, Guides Lost Aunty Home After Highway Ordeal

Date:

A Malaysian motorist has received widespread praise online after stepping in to assist an elderly woman who was left stranded by the roadside following a wrong highway entry and an inability to pay toll charges.

The incident was shared on Threads by user @vibewithharith, who said he encountered the distressed woman while driving to work in the Alam Damai area. He initially believed her vehicle had broken down when he noticed her signalling for help at the roadside.

However, upon stopping to check on her condition, he discovered that the woman had mistakenly entered the wrong route. She was reportedly without a mobile phone and did not have sufficient cash, leaving her unable to proceed through the toll barrier.

The woman was said to be visibly shaken and in tears after being stranded for an extended period during the morning rush hour. According to the motorist, she had been attempting to flag down passing vehicles for help, but none had stopped.

Realising her situation, the man decided to assist by paying both their toll fares and accompanying her through the highway. He also used navigation assistance to guide her safely back home, as she was unfamiliar with the correct route.

Speaking later, he said the experience reminded him of a previous incident where he himself had been helped by strangers when he ran out of fuel while travelling during a festive period. He recalled receiving assistance from multiple individuals who ensured he could continue his journey.

He added that the memory influenced his decision to help the elderly woman, describing it as a gesture of gratitude for the kindness he once received.

In a follow-up post, he clarified that his intention was not to seek attention but to encourage others to extend help whenever possible, even in their own busy or challenging circumstances.

The story has since gone viral, with many social media users praising his actions and highlighting the importance of compassion and solidarity among road users.
