Johor Royal Press Office Urges Action Over Fake TikTok Account Targeting King

Date:

The Johor Royal Family’s Media and Communications Office, or Royal Press Office, has called for strict action to be taken against those behind a fake TikTok account accused of spreading defamatory and insulting content targeting the Yang di-Pertuan Agong, Sultan Ibrahim.

According to a statement shared on the official Facebook page of Sultan Ibrahim Iskandar, the fake account was operating under the name “Sultan Ibrahim Ismail” and was believed to have used artificial intelligence (AI) technology to generate offensive and misleading content involving the King.

Among the uploaded materials was a video falsely claiming that the Yang di-Pertuan Agong consumed pork, an allegation described as entirely untrue and highly sensitive given that His Majesty is a Malay ruler and the Muslim Head of State.

The Royal Press Office also expressed regret over another image circulated through the account which allegedly superimposed the King’s face onto the body of an animal, describing the act as insulting and irresponsible.

In the statement, the office stressed that such actions constituted a serious and malicious insult against the royal institution.

The incident has sparked concern over the misuse of AI technology and fake social media accounts to spread defamatory content involving national leaders and sensitive institutions.

The Royal Press Office said it hopes the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission will take firm action against those responsible for creating and operating the account.

The case is expected to draw wider attention as authorities continue monitoring the growing misuse of digital platforms and AI-generated content for online impersonation and defamation.
