Third-Floor Premises Destroyed By Fire, No Casualties Reported

Date:

A shoplot unit on the third floor of a four-storey building in Taman Danau Kota was destroyed in a fire today.

The Kuala Lumpur Fire and Rescue Department (JBPM) operations centre said it received an emergency call through the NG999 line at 11.29am before deploying firefighters to the scene.

Operations commander Senior Fire Officer I Mohd Arif Nasarudin said firefighters found the blaze had broken out on the third floor of the building, which measured approximately 20 by 40 square feet.

He said the fire was brought under control at 11.46am before being fully extinguished at 12.10pm.

The blaze was confined to the third floor and did not involve any casualties, according to the department. The incident nevertheless prompted an immediate response from fire and rescue personnel to prevent the flames from spreading to other parts of the building.

Mohd Arif said the cause of the fire and the estimated losses were still being investigated.

The operation, which was fully concluded at 1pm, involved 18 personnel from the Wangsa Maju Fire and Rescue Station, with assistance from the Sentul Fire and Rescue Station.
