Three Seriously Injured In Horror SILK Highway Crash After Car Loses Control

Date:

Three Chinese motorists suffered serious injuries after a car allegedly speeding downhill lost control and slammed into another vehicle along the Kajang Dispersal Link Expressway (SILK) on Monday night.

Kajang district police chief Naazron Abdul Yusof said the crash occurred at around 9.10pm at Kilometre 3.5 of the highway.

Preliminary police investigations found that the black sedan was travelling from Balakong New Village towards Kajang when the driver is believed to have been speeding while descending a slope.

The vehicle allegedly lost control before crashing into another car travelling along the middle lane.

The collision left an elderly couple, aged 60 and 61, with severe head and hand injuries, while the 35-year-old driver of the speeding car also suffered serious head injuries.

All three victims were rushed to Serdang Hospital for emergency treatment.

Police are investigating the case under Section 43(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987 for careless driving causing an accident.

Authorities have urged witnesses or anyone with information regarding the crash to contact investigating officer Sergeant Saifuddin at 011-21119379 to assist investigations.

Earlier reports stated that the crash occurred on the stretch of the SILK Highway heading from Balakong towards The Mines shopping area.

Images from the scene showed the front section of the black sedan completely destroyed, with the vehicle nearly torn apart from the impact.

One front-seat passenger was reportedly trapped unconscious inside the wreckage as members of the public desperately tried to pry open the mangled doors to rescue the victim before emergency teams arrived.

The horrific crash also caused massive traffic congestion in the area, resulting in several kilometres of traffic buildup along the expressway.
