Johor Royal Institution Backs Armed Forces Training Exercises

Date:

The Tunku Mahkota of Johor, Tunku Ismail Sultan Ibrahim, has expressed support for military exercises being conducted in the state, describing them as important for strengthening national defence readiness.

In a Facebook post, Tunku Ismail said such training exercises are necessary to improve operational preparedness, enhance military capabilities, and sharpen the skills needed to protect the country’s security and sovereignty.

He said the Johor royal institution and the state government would continue giving their full support towards such efforts.

“There should not be unnecessary obstacles preventing these exercises from being carried out,” he said.

Tunku Ismail also stressed that Johor’s support extends beyond active military personnel to include retired servicemen and those nearing retirement.

“Johor’s doors will always remain open to them as a sign of appreciation for their sacrifices and contributions to the nation,” he added.

His statement came a day after the Tengku Mahkota of Pahang, Tengku Hassanal Ibrahim Alam Shah, called for the armed forces to obtain consent from the Sultan of Pahang before carrying out military training exercises in the state.

Tengku Hassanal had voiced concerns over planned military activities near Pahang’s islands, warning that they could affect the surrounding ecosystem, flora and fauna.

Earlier today, the National Security Council (MKN) clarified that all military drills are subject to strict procedures and require approval from the respective state governments before being conducted.

MKN added that military exercises are carried out through close coordination between the armed forces, state authorities, and related agencies to ensure operations proceed smoothly and safely.

The council also noted that standard operating procedures are regularly reviewed, while post-exercise evaluations are conducted to assess effectiveness and ensure any affected areas are restored.
