A teenage boy has tragically died after being stabbed during a violent incident that reportedly broke out following a house party in Hackney, London.
Police rushed to the scene at around 7.15pm after receiving reports of a large group of people, some allegedly carrying machetes, gathered in the area.
Witnesses also claimed they heard sounds resembling gunshots during the chaos, sparking panic among nearby residents.
When officers arrived, they discovered the teenage victim suffering from stab wounds near Mabley Green in Hackney.
Despite desperate attempts by paramedics to save him, the boy was pronounced dead at the scene.
The Metropolitan Police confirmed the victim was a teenager, although his exact age has not yet been officially released as detectives continue efforts to formally identify him and notify family members.
Detective Chief Inspector Ben Massink said specialist officers are supporting the victim’s loved ones following the tragedy.
“Our thoughts remain with the victim and his family,” he said, adding that urgent investigations are underway to determine exactly what happened.
Police believe a significant number of people were present during the incident, with some individuals believed to have recorded parts of the violence on mobile phones.
Authorities have urged witnesses and anyone with videos or photographs to come forward to assist investigations instead of sharing footage online out of respect for the victim’s family.
Increased police patrols have since been deployed around the area as shocked residents struggle to come to terms with the fatal attack.
The deadly stabbing has once again reignited concerns over youth violence and knife crime in parts of London, particularly involving large gatherings and street confrontations.
