A grocery store worker was injured in the back after being slashed with a sword during a robbery involving a group of four men at a shop in Kampung Kuala Lesung, Kuala Ketil.
In the incident at about 8.45pm last Monday, the suspects—who were wearing helmets, masks, jackets and gloves—arrived at the premises in a white Perodua Bezza. One of them was armed with a sword.
Baling district police chief Supt Brandon Richard Joe said the victim, a local man in his 20s, was attacked when the armed suspect swung the weapon at him, causing injuries to his back.
In a broader context, violent armed robberies involving organised groups continue to raise concern, particularly in smaller communities where such incidents can have a significant impact on public safety.
He said the suspects fled the scene with cash belonging to the victim after the attack.
The victim later received treatment at Baling Hospital, while police confirmed that money was also lost in the robbery.
The case is being investigated under Sections 395/397 of the Penal Code for armed robbery causing injury.
